Camp Victory

Summer camps are a rite of passage for many children — where they can learn independence and grow in a safe environment. A regular day camp or sleepaway camp is not always practical or safe for children living with Loeys-Dietz syndrome, Marfan syndrome, VEDS or a related condition.

That’s why Camp Victory exists: to provide a medically-supervised, safe experience that enables young people to create connections with other kids and form meaningful bonds that can last a lifetime.

Each camp will have an on-site social worker offering support and programming and a medical staff familiar with connective tissue conditions assisting with medication management and other health-related matters.

Camp Victory for Families

Offers programming for children and teens ages 5 to 18 and their families. It features traditional summer camp activities, such as paddleboats, arts and crafts, mini-golf, and swimming, as well as other standard camp activities that are modified so that all can participate. Parents have the opportunity to get involved in activities with their children and participate in professionally-led support groups.

Registration is $125 per person for the weekend family camps. Children must be accompanied by at least one adult.

Camp Victory for Kids

Offers children and teens, ages 7 to 16, an opportunity to have an independent camp experience. Children participate in all camp activities, such as lake swimming, boating, arts and crafts, dances, campfires, and much more, in a safe environment using only therapeutic and adaptive equipment. When your child shares these experiences with their peers, they create memories that change them forever.

Registration is $200 per person for the five-day kid’s camps.

Registration fees include lodging, meals, and activities, and thanks to the generous support of Camp Victory donors, all fees have been significantly discounted. A limited number of scholarships are available. To apply, please complete the application form here. Scholarship applications must be received at least eight weeks before the start of the camp. Please contact Andrea Friedman, MSW, at afriedman@marfan.org for more information.

Camp Victory Dates & Locations

  • When I first learned that Camp Victory for Kids existed, I was so excited. We joined the Marfan Foundation Facebook community a couple of years ago while visiting multiple doctors, trying to find a diagnosis for my son. Although we still don’t have a full answer, the chance for him to attend a camp filled with other kids facing similar challenges with connective tissue disorders was incredible. I also loved that his sister could come, because being a sibling of a child with a disability can be tough, too. Our daughter said she had the time of her life and wants to go back every year—she made what I hope will be lifelong friends. This camp gave my kids a chance to grow more independent and, most importantly, to feel truly accepted among their peers. It was an amazing experience for our whole family.

  • We love camp victory! It really is such an invaluable experience for our daughter to not be the only kid requiring accommodations. Arlo has a great support network at home, but there’s nothing like being around other kids with the same challenges. It’s a great week for her to just feel like a “normal” kid.

  • Wyatt had such an amazing time at Camp Victory. He came back glowing and so happy. He made great friends and it really helps him to hang with other kids who have Marfan Syndrome. It makes him realize he’s not the only one! Thank you Camp Victory!

  • I never imagined camping with total strangers could be this much fun. On top of that we got super helpful info about our daughter’s condition, surgery, and real experiences from others. It was such a precious time, like a special gift for our family.
