The Marfan Foundation is pleased to share that President and CEO Michael L. Weamer has been named the 2026 Lifetime Achievement Award recipient by the Metro New York Society of Association Executives (Metro NYSAE).
According to Metro NYSAE, the Lifetime Achievement Award “celebrates an individual who, during their lifetime, has made consistent and significant contributions to an organization, in their specific field or within their community.”
In announcing Michael as this year’s recipient, Metro NYSAE said:
“Throughout his distinguished career, Michael has dedicated himself to advancing nonprofit organizations and improving lives through visionary leadership and service. From his work with the American Heart Association to his transformative leadership at The Marfan Foundation, his impact on our industry has been significant and lasting. Michael has also served twice as Chair of Metro NYSAE.”
Metro NYSAE is a professional association serving association and nonprofit leaders in the greater New York metropolitan area. The organization provides opportunities for professional development, education, networking, and collaboration across the association community.
“I am deeply honored and could never give back as much as I have received personally and professionally from NYSAE over the years,” said Weamer. “Likewise, leading the Marfan Foundation is the gift of a lifetime. Receiving this recognition is especially meaningful, as much of the great work I’ve had the privilege to be part of is a result of the outstanding volunteer-staff partnerships we enjoy at the Foundation.”
Michael will be recognized at Metro NYSAE’s 2026 Synergy Awards this October in New York City.
The Marfan Foundation drives research, education and support – and builds community – to improve outcomes, save lives and empower all people to thrive who are living with Marfan, Loeys-Dietz, Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndromes, and related genetic aortic and vascular conditions.
