The Marfan Foundation has been ranked #5 among the Best Nonprofits to Work For in 2026 by The NonProfit Times (NPT)—the highest ranking in the Foundation’s history. The annual list recognizes the top 50 U.S.-headquartered nonprofit organizations based on workplace excellence and employee satisfaction.

“The volunteer-staff partnership at the Marfan Foundation is second to none,” said Marfan Foundation Board Chair Bert Medina. “I am so gratified to see us achieve this new milestone with a stellar fifth-place ranking. Our empowered community and skillful staff team come together every single day to help more people know, connect and thrive. This recognition affirms what we are already privileged to know: our mission matters, and the work executed to fulfill that mission is first-class.”

The ranking is determined by Workforce Research Group through a comprehensive two-part evaluation process. The first component assesses organizational policies and practices, while the second gathers direct employee feedback about workplace experience. Together, these insights determine the top nonprofit workplaces in the United States.

“Our newest elite ranking is a testament to two powerful things: the dedication of our extraordinary volunteers and the commitment of our talented staff team,” said President and CEO Michael Weamer. “We are so proud and honored to receive this very special recognition and we share this honor with every member of the Foundation family.”

Chief Operations Officer Judy Gibaldi, who worked with Workforce Research Group to comply with the rigorous evaluation process, emphasized the significance of the recognition.

“When I look at the list of organizations among whom we are ranked, I think, ‘Wow, what an incredible honor to be among so many peers who change the world for the better!’ What makes me happiest about this award is that it reflects a team effort. When we win together as staff members, volunteers, community members, and medical professionals, we win best.”

This recognition builds on a series of honors highlighting the Foundation’s workplace culture and organizational excellence, including Best Places to Work 2025, Best Places to Work for Women, and Top Places to Work in Communications.

The Marfan Foundation is also a Charity Navigator 4-star charity with a 99% rating, a Better Business Bureau–accredited charity, and is certified by the National Health Council’s Standards of Excellence Program—demonstrating its leadership in transparency, accountability, and impact.

Deputy Executive Officer Helaine Baruch noted that the recognition reflects the strength of the Foundation’s community.

“I get to see our collective impact first-hand at events like our Walks for Victory and symposiums, and hear so many great stories about the lives we touch through our support services. Our wonderful staff members come to work each day humbled and excited to serve our mission. But we don’t do it alone; our community members are true partners who drive everything we do. Together, we’re unstoppable!”
